[BETA] - Gutteridge Glass

Personality:

            Gutteridge can come off as a massive prick. In reality, he's still sort of a prick. He's straight-forward, simple, and likes fighting much more up close and personal than necessary. His social-circle reputation may be a tad tarnished but his work reputation is decent. He does what's asked efficiently and quickly. He hates getting caught up in other people's affairs if there's no profit involved. 
            He doesn't see anything or anyone as solely good or bad. Morals vary from person to person, so he leaves them to it. 
            Any situation can be adapted to, so he says. Shit happens, don't whine about it longer than you have to.
            [He would like to point out that this doesn't apply to the apocalypse. In fact, he hasn't stopped whining about it either.]
            Though a little less caring than most, Gut will try to be reliable for people he likes. Once he decides he really likes someone, he'll follow them to the ends of the earth and then some. Anyone worth dying beside is someone worth dying for. 
            He has a love for risky adventures. Everything has some dry humor hidden in it. [Again, the apocalypse doesn't really apply.] 
            He speaks his mind (loudly, abruptly, and most of the time rudely) when asked and is always consistent. If you're looking for a frank opinion, look no further.

History:

   Past

            Son of the prostitute-turned-loving-mother Hia Li, Gutteridge grew up in the dark tunnels of Iroga owning nothing. However, he was coerced into a mercenary group at age thirteen and stayed with them for two years, in which he found his love for battle. Enrolling in the Iroga Military Force, Gut trained and fought as a soldier until he was forcibly discharged at 19 as a result of his constant brawling with other cadets and lack of respect for procedure. Since then, Gutteridge has enjoyed life as he wishes; prowling the criminal underbelly of all Lerise, occasionally paying visits to his mother, and making a name for himself.


    Post-Punishment

                Ok so the "surviving the apocalypse" wasn't exactly in his list of future goals, but when the Punishment bore down it very quickly became one of them. He was on his way to Balshai when the earthquakes began and had the terrible luck to end up at the bottom of a fissure. With a blinded right eye and a really shitty headache, he crawled his way out and began his pointless wandering.
                First thinking to check on some acquaintances and his mother, he turned around and made his way down to Iroga, skirting the shattered city of Sisal. It was at this point that he began to realize how catastrophic the events had been. He found no trace of his mother in Iroga and, presuming her dead, left the refugee camps to make for the coasts. Finding only half-dead groups of refugees, he followed rumors of rescue boats down to the southern-most point of Lerise and from there was escorted to Hien.
                He immediately enrolled in the Vanguard and likes to be stationed outside the Last Shield so he can visit other camps and collect news and possibly find familiar faces.
